MORE ABOUT ME

I obtained a B.A in Theatre Arts with a minor in Visual Arts from the University of Northern Colorado, with a specialization in Scenic Design and Painting. After freelancing for companies such as Paragon Theatre, and You Want What? Production Inc. I began a Masters program at the University of Denver where I obtained my Colorado Teachers License in K-12 Visual Arts through the Teacher Education Program.   I went on to teach Theatre and Technical Theatre at Grandview High School.  During this time I was also a Board Member and Stage Manager for the Colorado State Thespians where I established a High School Technician Intern Program through Thespians to give students real-world Load-In experience at Bellco Theatre at the Colorado Convention Center.  I have also led professional development sessions on Standards-based teaching and shop maintenance and systems. In addition to the many hats I wore as a teacher, board member, director, technical director and theatre manager, I also was a member of the Colorado State Standards Revision Committee where we rewrote the standards for Theatre Arts.  I also established a fair rubric and theatrical construction standard manual for my district's Risk Management department to measure safety of production scenery.

 

More recently, I have begun a homeschool journey with my three beautiful children.  Like many, teaching through COVID opened my eyes to the one place I am irreplaceable; my home.  After pulling our gifted daughter from one of the top academically achieving schools in the state we began searching for a curriculum that was academic, rigorous, and homeschool. We joined Classical Conversations.  In addition to our homeschool life my husband and I have actively run a Bible Study for the last 13 years.  As a family we enjoy gardening, hiking, and learning sufficiency skills.
